This product is not a food supplement, but is usually sold within the supplement section of supermarkets. The product is a patch that is applied to the skin on a daily basis. The patch contains a preparation of the herb Fucus Versiculosis (seaweed). The claim is that the patches assist in supporting weight loss and reduce hunger pangs.

There is little or no scientific evidence to support any of these claims of effectiveness in weight reduction. Indeed, one known effect of this herb, as a rich source of Iodine, is that it has mild thyroid stimulating effects. This does not support a weight reduction claim, particularly when applied to the skin. The overall opinion of the SC expert panel is that this product would have no chance of delivering the intended weight loss benefit. Furthermore, it is very expensive.
